Firewood

PINE
Softwood, quicker burning, will generally burn faster than medium-hard woods. Good to moderate heat output. Suited to both open fires and log burners.

OREGON (Douglas Fir)
Medium firewood, burns hotter and longer than young pine. Sparks a little but not as much as Macrocarpa. Splits easily.

MACROCARPA
Medium firewood, clean burning, with good heat output and reasonably long burning time. It has a tendency to spark so therefore is not recommended for open fires.

BLUE GUM
Hardwood, hot slow burning. Suited to both open fires and log burners.

NATIVE
Hardwood, mix mostly Beech  Hot slow burning. Suited to both open fires and log burners.

SEASONED WOOD
Well-seasoned firewood generally is relatively lightweight, and makes a clear “clunking sound” when pieces are knocked together.  All of our wood is seasoned outside and then shed stored when the moisture content has reached 25% or less.
We attempt to cut our firewood to approx 20-25cm in length and it is well split.
It is best to purchase your firewood over the summer/autumn months and stack it away in a covered shed away from the weather.

Bagged wood available this season :             Oregon, Macrocarpa, Kindling and Scrap Bags (Great for Kindling)
